The Rhodes men's swim team had a close defeat last Friday, falling to the Sewanee Tigers, 123-101.
Freshman Drew Wagstaff dominated the competition in his usual fashion, winning the 500 and 1000 freestyles and the 400 individual medley. Tyler Schultz '11 also swam quite well, placing high in the 50 freestyle (23.34) and 100 freestyle (52.21). The 200 freestyle relay (senior Michael Lallemand and freshmen Jarrett Tate, Tyler Schultz, and Houston Scarborough) won with a time of 1:31.70. The four will most likely swim this event again during Conference, giving them another shot against the Tigers.
Despite their loss, the team remains positive and focused on the rest of the season. Coach Duncan agrees: “The men performed well, and I am positive that with a little more rest in the next two weeks, they will be ready to swim fast at SCAC.” The men will travel to Southlake, TX in mid-February to compete in the SCAC Championship meet.
